Restrictions due to Corona virus: Regulations for PhD and habilitation procedures

Oral examinations in the context of doctoral and habilitation procedures (disputations, colloquia, scientific lectures and talks) are currently not to be held. This applies initially until the start of the summer semester lecture period on 4 May 2020.

In urgent exceptional cases, they can be organised as video conferences or - in compliance with the hygiene requirements of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena - as mixed video and face-to-face events. In any case, the (university) public is currently to be excluded.

Urgent exceptional cases can be, in particular, the imminent expiry of residence permits, the prohibited entry into Germany or the necessity of a doctorate / habilitation qualification for employment contracts or appointments. The decision is made by the dean or vice-dean of the respective faculty at request of the person being examined. Since habilitation procedures require a broader involvement of the faculty, the use of video conferencing should only be considered in very rare and particularly urgent cases.

The submission of dissertations in the ThULB is still possible. Please refer to the notes on the ThULB website and use this contact form.
