In order to assess scientific performance, bibliometric methods are increasingly drawn on. With these methods the number and impact of publications are measured and put into proportion. However, what do the different bibliometric methods actually describe? Plus how does the adjustment to the Hirsch-Index and the impact factors influence the publication behaviour and the research activity of scientists?

Prof. Sarah de Rijcke will give an introduction to this topic and report on her current research projects in which she examined the influence of bibliometric methods on the research and publication practice. She is an assisstant professor at Centre for Science and Technology Studies of University Leiden (NL).

The lecture will take place on 17 June at 18:15 h in the Hörsaal 24 in the University Main Building. We cordially invite you to this event!

The lecture will be held in English language.
